You can also specify the floating IP address. It can be useful when connecting an instance with the project network as well the external network.
You must connect the project network with a router configured to use the external network as the gateway before you can assign the instance. The external networks must contain a subnet capable of providing the floating IP addresses.
Then you will need to assign it to a group. A security group gives you access to the instance using SSH, or any other protocol you choose.
Once the instance is assigned to a security group, you can use it from outside of your cloud by configuring the network that the instance is connected to and then using SSH to access the instance. This is more convenient, but doesn't give you full control over access to the instance.
If you do not want to assign the instance to a security group, you can use the --os-delete-security-group option. This removes the instance from the security group and returns it to the allocation pool.
